I Earned $4,000 Selling Books on Amazon Kindle
If you enjoy writing, creating ebooks is an easy way to make money. Last week I wrote about how I earned $880 selling ebooks on Gumroad. Today, I’ve revealing my Amazon Kindle earnings.
What I like about creating ebooks is that I can work on them whenever I feel like it. I’ often traveling, so it’s a perfect side hustle because I don’t need to be available every day. I wrote one of my books in 5 days. Another one, Side Hustle & Passive Income Blueprint, took over year from start to finish.
It’s a very stress-free side hustle. Note that I have other income that I live off, so that is why I can take my time writing books. It’s a long-term, background side hustle.
The $4,000 I earned from Amazon Kindle was a few years ago and I no longer own those books. I sold them to someone I had worked with previously. This is how I usually sell mg side hustles.
Creating books for Kindle is very easy. You can write them in an MS Word document and upload it to your KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) account. You also need to upload a book cover. I usually get someone from fiverr.com to create them. Add a description and pricing, and you’re good to go. It usually takes around 24-48 hours for your book to get approved.
Once the book is live, you should start getting orders. I wrote around 5 books. The first book earned around 80% of the total income. Some books will make and some won’t.
I’d suggest writing shorter books to begin with so that you can test the platform. There’s nothing worse than spending months writing a book only for it to flop completely.
If you don’t get any sales at the beginning, you can try running some ads. I would suggest you just spend a couple of dollars a day to test the ads.
This is just one idea to make money alongside your day job or when traveling.
$4,000 might not sound like much, but invest it, and it can easily turn into much more.
If you’ve published any books on Kindle, let me know how it worked out.
